Last Wednesday night I took my two eldest grandchildren to the Opera on the Sydney Harbour for the very first time. I have followed the lead singer Liù – the Slave Girl- for some time and I was so thrilled to see her sing.
I can’t express the pleasure and joy that it gave me to see my grandchildren Zoe and Max enjoying their first Opera experience. Their comments? Max said “it was pure poetry!” and Zoe said it was the best things she’d ever seen!

The aroma of onions frying immediately makes me feel hungry, no matter when I last ate. If pushed for a favourite, I would have to say that slow cooked onions are the most luscious of all; the transformation from crisp and sharp, to caramelised and sweet, is hard to credit. I love using warm caramelised onion to line a just baked, sour cream pastry case, dotted with goat’s cheese or gorgonzola.
